Legal Expert
In cases involving child custody and living arrangements, psychological expertise provides the judge, and the parents, with essential insights to determine what serves the child’s best interests.
As a licensed court-appointed expert, I assess the overall family situation: the dynamics of relationships, each parent’s ability to understand and meet their child’s needs, and the emotional and legal stakes of the conflict.
A written report is then submitted to both parties and to the judge, outlining the most appropriate measures to support the child’s development and well-being.
My role is not only to evaluate, but also to support parents in reducing tension, mobilizing their strengths, and moving toward a more cooperative process.
With over a decade of ongoing experience as a legal expert, I am frequently appointed by both family courts and courts of appeal.
My Background
After spending 15 years as a communications manager in international companies, I chose to redirect my career toward clinical psychology.
I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychological and Educational Sciences from UMONS, followed by a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology (Child, Adolescent, and Family focus) from UCL.
Drawn to family dynamics and child protection, I began my work within Belgium’s youth protection services (Aide à la Jeunesse), supporting children and families facing complex or at-risk situations.
I then joined a mental health center, where I was able to deepen my clinical experience as a psychologist through therapeutic work with individuals and families.
It was also within this setting that I was introduced to the field of legal expertise—a practice I later developed further through specialized postgraduate training in family mediation and legal assessment.
Thanks to my international professional experience in both corporate and clinical settings I have developed a broad, flexible skillset.
This diversity helps me better understand and support the wide range of issues that clients bring to therapy.
